ECI 524: Theory and Research in Global Learning

In Theory and Research in Global Learning I was able to expand my understanding and meaning of global learners in a global society. I now understand the importance of making what my students are learning relevant to the real world around them, whenever possible. During Dr. Lee’s class I completed the Global Learning Initiative Project where I worked with students from Doha, Qatar and N.C. State to investigate a global issue. The group looked into water bottle companies around the world and how to make them more sustainable. The experience of the class taught me how to be globally aware and realize that I do not need to travel outside of the United States to become globally connected or have my students globally connected. Technology enables teachers to take their classrooms on a journey around the world.
Below is a list of resources available to teachers wanting to make global connections in their classrooms using technology available on the web.
